Computerisation in Madappally Grama Panchayat
As part of efforts to make the day-to-day operations of local self-government institutions, including Madappally Grama Panchayat, more efficient and transparent, extensive computerisation and e-Governance systems are being implemented with the technical support of Information Kerala Mission (IKM). For this purpose, the services of Technical Officers at the district and block levels, along with around 13 application software systems, are currently available. The most significant leap in this development process is the new e-Governance system, K-SMART, developed by integrating advanced technologies. With the introduction of the K-SMART Citizen Portal and mobile application, the public no longer needs to visit the Panchayat office in person for services such as birth, death and marriage registrations, name inclusion and corrections. Instead, citizens can apply online and pay fees through their own login accounts or through Akshaya Centres. Certificates can be received on time through email or the portal inbox. Since files are processed entirely through a web-based system, office operations have become more citizen-friendly. The Finance and Accounting Module provides real-time financial reports, making government policy decisions and development planning easier. Developed using open-source technology that reduces recurring costs, K-SMART's effective monitoring system helps ensure a transparent and accountable civil service for the public.
