Traffic Regulatory Committee
Gram Panchayat Level Traffic Regulatory Committee
It is a coordination committee formed by including representatives of various departments to make traffic control, road safety and traffic management in the Gram Panchayat area efficient. Its chairman is the Gram Panchayat President and the convener is an officer nominated by the District Police Chief. This is a local committee that works under the supervision of the District Traffic Regulatory Committee.
Composition of the Committee

- Officer nominated by the District Police Chief – Member / Convener
- Officer nominated by the Regional Transport Officer – Member
- Officer nominated by the Public Works Department (PWD) Executive Engineer – Member
Main Responsibilities
- To study traffic related issues within the Gram Panchayat area and give necessary suggestions.
- To recommend measures to increase road safety.
- Suggest remedial measures on issues like traffic congestion, hazards, parking problems etc.
- Coordinate with the concerned departments regarding road signs, traffic control systems and safety arrangements.
- Coordinate activities to ensure safe and smooth transport system for the public and motorists.
- Support the implementation of policies and instructions of the District Traffic Regulatory Committee at the local level.
